I have a chipped/broken tooth
If it is not treated, a chipped or broken tooth may lead to death of the nerve, and an abscess might grow that could need root canal treatment or extraction. In severe cases the tooth can actually split in two, in which case the best remedy is to extract the tooth.
The choice of treatment depends on the amount of damage to the tooth. Chipped, misshapen or unattractive teeth can be disguised to blend in with your other teeth. We will advise you what is the best treatment for you. There are several very satisfactory options. Amongst them:
Veneers
These are ideal for a tooth that still has a fair amount of structure remaining as they are long lasting and need little or, in the case of Lumineers, no tooth removing first.
Crowns
Used when a tooth is not suitable for a veneer/Lumineer. A crown fits right over what is left of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the appearance of a natural tooth. If the nerve has been damaged and becomes infected it may be necessary to have root canal treatment first, which involves removing all infections from the root canal, cleaning the root and filling to prevent further infections. The tooth is then fitted with a crown to give it extra support. This can be done using very satisfactorily and quickly using our one appointment only CEREC equipment.
Dental Implants
Single missing teeth can be replaced with a fixed dental implant to give a completely natural appearance and feel. The River recommend Nobel Biocare Implants - an alternative to conventional bridges and partial dentures.
